Congratulations to Prof. Dominic Hegarty on his successful leadership as Clinical Director of Mater Private Network Cork to achieve the Joint Commission International (JCI) Standards Accreditation at the Mater Private in Cork.

Prof. Hegarty is pictured with Sandra Daly (CEO Cork), Kieran McNamara (Quality & Risk Management Cork) and Sonia O’Driscoll (Director Of Nursing) who led a very successful accreditation process. “We are very pleased about the achievement and it is a credit to the hard work and dedication of all the staff at our Hospital that we have once again reached this level” says Ms. Daly (CEO).

The Joint Commission accreditation is an objective evaluation process of organisational compliance to performance standards designed to inspire and improve quality and safety for those they serve. It is recognised globally as the gold standard in healthcare.

Within the Joint Commission accreditation process the Hospital is tested on 1,200 different standards. The international accreditation team from JCI were on site for the four day in September to undertake both an objective evaluation of standards compliance along with strategies and structures for improvement.

The surveys are generally conducted every three years, however some settings including laboratories are surveyed every two years.  After earning their accreditation award, health care organisations are eligible to display The Gold Seal of Approval®, a widely recognised symbol of quality and patient safety. Prof. Hegarty says “ We believe all people should experience safe, high quality, and consistently excellent health care. Demonstrating that the Mater Private Network has achieved this will offer reassurance to our patients, and those who provide services to the Mater Private that we are continually ensuring we deliver the best to our patients”.

Pain Relief Ireland celebrates this success and are delighted to ensure our patients are taken care of to such a high standard.

Congratulations to everyone on a great achievement.
