Pain effects 1 in 5 Irish people so it not surprising that Dr. Dominic Hegarty, Consultant in Pain Management & Neuromodulation and Clinical Director Pain Relief Ireland have combined forces with the Mater Private Hospital Cork to develop the pain management unit at the new Orthopaedic & Spine centre.
With over 10,000 patients a year expected to attend for consultation at the Orthopaedic & Spine Centre at Mater Private Cork, the addition of Dr. Hegarty ensures that international pain management options are now available to all individuals who attended for consultation.
The new 8,000 sq/ft purpose-designed facility built to state-of-the-art best practice standards with an investment of over €2.5 million, was officially opened by the Tánaiste, Simon Coveney TD in September 2017.

In 2017 speaking at the official opening of the new Orthopaedic and Spine Centre Minister Simon Coveney said: “Mater Private Cork is leading the way in the area of private healthcare in Munster having grown from 130 staff when it opened in January 2013 to almost 300 today.” The addition of a pain management expert of Dr. Hegarty’s calibre will ensure that individuals have the best treatment options available under one roof.

Over the past 18 months, Mater Private Hospital Cork has doubled its capacity and is the newest private hospital in Ireland. The development of a pain management unit with Dr. Hegarty at the helm will ensures that the patient’s interest remain the central focus.
