At Pain Relief Ireland we are committed to put aside our routine clinical work to deal with a situation which is turning out to be a global emergency that needs to be tackled without compromise. It is our responsibility to look after our patients as well as ourselves in these exceptional circumstances.

Chronic pain, however, does not suddenly halt in the presence of Covid-19 and for some individuals pain management can offer a better quality of life, avoids unnecessary opioids and improves the ability of an individual to take care of themselves over the what could be a substantial period of time before normal service can resume. Some estimates have propose that this could be as long as 6 months before this can be achieved.

With this in mind and considering the recommendation of other opinion leaders in the field such as The British Pain Society we are following international guidelines so that we are prepared to deal with the pandemic and also ensuring that our patients are not inconvenienced.

  • At present all face-to-face clinics are suspended until further notice. Once it becomes safe again to allow spending more that 15 minutes face-to-face contact within 2 metres we shall resume and setting a date for you appointment will be a priority.
  • The international advice has recommended that All pain procedures are cancelled. This include all neuromodulation procedures as well as other pain interventional work. Please do not be surprised when you procedure is cancelled. In some exceptional circumstances (e.g. cancer pain / CRPS and other such clinical scenarios) we shall work to ensure pain treatments can be provided where necessary. We are constantly reviewing the situation on a weekly basis.
  • It is anticipated as the peak of the infection passes there will be greater scope to offer more individuals procedure date and we shall work as fast as possible to get everybody seen
  • The situation is monitored constantly and we will keep you updated via the website or directly as the need arises. We would like to thank you for your understanding at this time.

What are we doing to protect you?

Our priority at Pain Relief Ireland is your safety. We will get your appointment or procedure rescheduled as soon as we know it is safe to do so. This is in the interest of all concerned.
